COBURG UNITED ON FULL THROTTLE (Bülent Yöntem) 06-08-07
In Friday nights away game against Port Melbourne, Coburg United was able to dominate in both half’s and strived to a 3 – 0 win.
With Bentleigh Greens and Frankston Pines 1-1 draw this gave the team extra motivation to succeed toward our season goal. This result has given much more importance towards next weeks match against Langwarrin.
Let’s talk about Friday night’s game.
As an opening on this game I noticed that in the first half of the Coburg United spor players showed more hunger and where determined to take control early on in the game.
I would like to start my match critique with Peter. During the first half and second half of the game Peter was able to defend all attacks and pass accordingly to his team mates. This wasn’t Peter’s only victory during the game as he not only fulfilled his defense duties but covered John and Ahmet in their absence.
Paul Wilson’s domination of the left midfield enabled him accurate cross-ins which provided the strikers with many goal opportunities. In saying this Nick Harrhy’s header finally resulted in Coburg United's first goal.
The midfield was Ross’s playground, with countless first ball wins, constant pressure and providing plenty of confidence and ruthless tackles towards the other team ensuring they didn’t have a chance to play the game at their highest level.
Captain Mustafa was able to utilize the right wing efficiently in the second half of the game and the second goal proved this by Mustafa doing a fantastic cross to Nick which then allowed him to sneak in the goal flawlessly.
Turhan was also able to work the right wing with Mustafa and used his outstanding physical power to beat his opponents.
The class and ability that I believe existed in Nick for a long time was finally unraveled in Port Melbourne’s game by the explosive two goals that he presented.
During the match Serkan was able to play his part and complete his job successfully on the field and this was proved on his behalf by kicking the final goal of the game.
In conclusion the 3 points that Coburg United was able to gain from this match is a fantastic merit to our team, however hard work and perseverance will need to be in place in order to gain success in the upcoming challenges.
